Advocacy (2022)

The current growth rate of geothermal is truly impressive. Industry statistics indicate an unprecedented increase in the number of residential installations over the past 10 years in all regions of Canada. Each year thousands of new homes are being built with geothermal heating and cooling systems. Similarly, each year thousands of existing homes are converted away from burning fossil fuels (natural gas, propane and oil) for heating purposes and are being upgraded to use geothermal systems that consume only electricity.

Geothermal systems emit no carbon dioxide (CO2) and cannot produce carbon monoxide (CO). In addition to the significant cost reductions available by converting from fossil fuels, geothermal systems also offer a truly green solution.

As the use of renewable energy technologies continues to grow many opportunities exist for homeowners to improve the energy efficiency and carbon footprint of their homes.

Renewable energy is available to all homeowners who want to turn away from the use of oil, propane and natural gas for the purpose of heating their homes. Even with the abundance of natural gas in urban areas Quantum Geothermal has participated in the construction of many new homes in Toronto as well as other urban areas and various rural locations across the GTA and other areas of southern Ontario.

Geothermal has a positive impact on our environment while representing a solid investment. For new home construction projects we often work cooperatively with architects and engineering firms to incorporate solar PV generation into the overall energy plan for the home.

We also advocate for improved energy efficiency in new homes by promoting better construction methods which take advantage of the latest improvements in insulation materials, installation protocols for the building envelope and the use of highly energy efficient windows.

With rapid growth there are risks associated with standards and quality. There has been some concern about opportunistic contractors entering the industry and providing less than exemplary service. It is unfortunate but inevitable that in such a growing market, some service providers will conduct themselves in an unscrupulous manner. Good design, quality workmanship and proper commissioning are all necessary to insure an installation that will deliver comfort, reliability and energy savings for many years to come.

At Quantum Geothermal, we advocate for the continuing development of industry standards and for mandatory certification and training of all companies involved in providing our services to the public.

Quantum Geothermal is dedicated to providing a consistent, high quality of service to our customers.
