Heat pumps have been used to heat and cool homes in Ontario since the 1960s. Many of these early units lasted for 20 – 25 years. Since the mid 1970s the number of heat pumps installed each year grew rapidly to the point where today there are thousands of these older units in service. Each year Quantum Geothermal receives inquiries from homeowners who own an old heat pump which has served it’s time and is ready to be replaced.
The new GreenOn rebate program now provides a financial incentive for homeowners to replace their old heat pumps. If your heat pump is at least 20 years old it will qualify for a rebate of $750 / ton (that is a measure of the size of the unit). Quantum Geothermal is a participating, registered contractor in the GreenOn rebate program and can complete this upgrade for you and submit the necessary paperwork to trigger this rebate cheque.
