Quantum Geothermal is a leading installer of geothermal heating and cooling systems for new homes in southern Ontario

The Pipe

The material used for the underground part of a geothermal system is composed of extruded HDPE (high density polyethylene) pipe. Quantum Geothermal uses only CSA 448 approved geothermal pipe for all our installations. One reason this type of plastic pipe has become the standard piping material for geothermal ground loops is that it’s extremely durable. Once the pipe is properly installed in the ground it is effectively permanent and can be expected to function without any further intervention or maintenance for as long as the the home or building it services exists.

Geothermal Heating and Cooling Pipe Installation

The ground loop is like a renewable energy battery that never losses it’s charge. Once installed under your property it will provide a source of energy to heat your home for decades to come. In the summer months the same pipe is used to cool your house by taking excess thermal energy (heat) out of your house and transferring it back into the ground. In this case the ground acts as a heat sink for the dissipation of the unwanted thermal energy.

This is why geothermal systems are proven to be a reliable and durable way to use renewable energy for heating and cooling.
